“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he” (Proverbs 23:7)
I recently received some flack from my family over a comment I made.
Without going into details, I used one of my favorite lines: “Just keep thinking that”.
Apparently that was not appreciated…
But, it has been scientifically proven that our thoughts create our feelings which create our reality.
So, what you think about you bring about (I wish I could remember who said that- I first heard it in Mary Kay) is an amazingly true statement.
If you want to be healthy, just keep thinking of yourself as a healthy person.
If you want to be wealthy, just keep thinking of yourself as a wealthy person.
If you want to be wise, just keep thinking of yourself as someone who learns from the wisdom of those who came before.
It is not enough to just think it, though.
You have to truly believe it and live in accordance to your beliefs.
A healthy person does not eat frankenfoods, smoke, and lay about all day.
A wealthy person does not refuse to work or share her gifts and talents with the world.
A wise person does not jump to conclusions or make assumptions without the necessary facts.
As you go about your day ask yourself if you are living in alignment with your self-proclaimed beliefs.
If you are not, you either do not truly believe or you do not have a strong enough why behind your belief.
As someone who becomes very sick after ingesting USA-grown gluten, it is easy for me to choose non-gluten items when making food choices (thankfully, Aldi has so many items from Canada and Europe!).
But, although I like to say I am generally healthy, I do enjoy unhealthy things approximately 20% of the time. I am not 100% in alignment with this belief.
Now, on the flip side, you can use these self-proclaimed “I am” beliefs to hold yourself back.
These are often seen in statements like:
– I just have to look at food and I gain weight
– I just cannot lose weight
– Money burns a hole in my pocket
– I am so stupid
– I am clumsy
– This is why I cannot have nice things
– I am just not meant to…
What kind of person are you? Do you live according to your beliefs about yourself?
