How To- Avoid Financial Roadblocks

Roadblocks and construction happen.

Anyone who has ever taken a road trip (or even a commute) knows this all too well.

We hop in the car expecting the trip to take XX minutes. The GPS may even tell us this.

Then someone, perhaps miles and hours away from us, hits their brakes to miss a squirrel, a piece of debris, or even another car… and our plans are completely derailed.

Do we use these setbacks as an excuse to never be on time again?

Do we use these delays as an excuse to never use the roads?

Hopefully the answers are “no”. 😉

So, why do we do this with our finances?

We say things like:
“I can’t save a dime”
“Money burns a hole in my pocket”
“Easy come, easy go”
“I really didn’t want ______ anyway”

Marissa Peer says “every word you say is the blueprint you must move towards”. (btw, if you do not know who Marissa Peer is, check her out!) In other words, your words are your roadmap.

When you say empowering things to yourself, you make it to your destination in record time. When you say disempowering things, like the ones listed above, you create your own roadblocks.

What are some empowering messages? Try these:
“I love having $______ in my savings account”
“I live in a state of abundance”
“Money flows to me easily and I have a great relationship with money””
“I love that I can buy whatever I want”

Now, this may feel a little fake at first. After all, no one can call BS on you faster than your brain, right? If that is the case, add “it is possible” or “I am moving towards” to each message. All you need is the possibility for the magic to happen.

And, before you know it, you will be breaking all the speed records. 🏁

What are some phrases that come to mind automatically while you were reading this? Are they empowering or disempowering? For the disempowering thoughts, how are you going to re-write them?
