How To- Prioritize Education

I can’t afford that!”

Have you ever caught yourself saying that?

Now, in the moment it may be true.

We have all been there.

But, could you truly not afford it or was it just not a priority?

Many times we say “can’t” when we really mean “won’t”.

You will hear people say “I can’t afford to pay my bills” while they are smoking a cigarette… or binge watching their entertainment subscription of choice… or sipping their coffee shop latte.

And, while there is room in every budget for fun/play/treats, you are lying to yourself if you say “can’t” when you really could- if you wanted to badly enough.

Just be honest.

And, if you are not allocating part of your income to ongoing education, you are creating a world where future you will be saying “I can’t” a lot more often. Education is the one investment guaranteed to pay dividends.

You do not have to say “yes” to every educational opportunity that comes along, but make sure you have the funds set aside for when the right opportunity presents itself.

As a reminder, millionaires and billionaires allocate an equal amount to play, education, investing, saving, and giving/tithing. There is a reason why they are where they are.

So, next time you hear yourself (whether in your head or out loud) say “I can’t” ask yourself if that is really the truth.
