“I can see the future!!!”
“What you think about, you bring about” is an idea I first heard of as a Mary Kay consultant almost 30 years ago. But it goes back so much further.
When you think about it, everything that exists today was once an idea in someone’s mind.
You have to believe before you can see. This is a proven fact.
Having a vivid, detailed picture in your head of your future is a great way to start the process of bringing it to life.
Think about it. Have you ever chosen a vacation destination without first seeing a photo or video of it? Or read a story of someone else’s experience there?
I know most of you are saying “no, of course not”.
In fact, we often research every possible thing we can about it before making a reservation.
Where are we going to stay? What are the best restaurants, lodgings, and attractions? Will we fly or drive? Is there parking? And on and on.
So why not do the same for your future?
Start with just a few minutes first thing in the morning, while driving, right before bed, in the shower, while doing chores, or some other opportunity when you can have quiet, uninterrupted time for yourself.
Then close your eyes and see what comes up.
Do not be too concerned if it is difficult to see at first. You can always add to it over time. Start with just a few, uninterrupted minutes and expand from there.
Do not be concerned about being consistent. You can choose to focus on your house or yard one day, a dream trip the next day, your car on another day… really whatever comes to mind!
The important thing is that you envision it right down to the smallest detail.
It is not enough to say “my dream home”. Picture exactly what that house looks like. What color is it? Do the windows have grids or no? Does it have a front porch or deck? What does the landscaping look like? What color is the front door? What does the light next to the front door look like? Is there a garage? How close are your neighbors? When you open the front door what does the room look like? What does it smell like? Keep going until you run out of imagination.
Do not worry if your picture or video is not very detailed to begin with. You can always go back and add more detail next time.
And, do not be surprised if you start finding things that were in your vision. Perhaps your bed had a specific bedspread that you see while shopping for something completely unrelated. Assuming it is in your budget, buy it and start making your future a reality!
