Are you familiar with Robert Kiyoaski’s Cash Flow Quandrant?
Basically it breaks people down into four categories:
Employee
Self-Employed
Business Owner
Investor
According to Mr Kiyosaki, you want to work your way from Employee to Self-Employed to Business Owner (employees are doing the work for you) to Investor.
And, this is good information to be aware of.
However, is it best for you?
Mr Kiyosaki does acknowledge that not everyone is meant to be an investor. Some will stay at the employee level their entire working life. Others may be self-employed or become business owners.
Mr Kiyosaki’s model may be outdated for the current business landscape. There are people becoming extremely wealthy as sole proprietors, although it is more likely at the business owner level. And, you have to be very careful to be an investor in an age when things are changing quickly and exponentially.
I would argue being able to see trends and pivot may be more important than being in a particular Quadrant.
