If you took a class or a test and only 25% of the students passed, you would probably say that it was a bad test or the teacher did not teach the students everything they needed to know. You probably would not blame yourself for not knowing everything.
The same is true for your finances.
75% of US residents are in debt, living paycheck-to-paycheck. Some people complain. Some post memes or gifs or whatever to express their frustration without discussing how it affects their lives.
Why is it that so many of these people try to hide their situation? As if hiding in the dark will somehow make it better? Or less painful? They show off their new cell phone…or purse…or television…or car…while hoping no one will notice they are one paycheck away from losing it all.
The simplest (albeit not the easiest) way to take the shame and stigma of being in debt is to just talk about it. Ask questions. Learn. There are so many resources available online. For free.
One of them is the free How To Be A Money Master facebook group. Answer three simple questions and you can be part of a supportive, shame-free, judgement-free community where you can learn everything you need to know to not only survive, but thrive.
