Are you waiting to be debt-free (or some other goal) before focusing on financial freedom?
Why?
I am guessing you did not realize that you can start your path to financial freedom no matter where you currently are- even if you are living paycheck-to-paycheck, barely keeping your head above water, and suffering from the effects of financial stress.
How?
1. Know where you are.
Write it all down. You have to know where you are before you can figure out where you are going.
2. Figure out what changes you can make.
There is always something you can do differently. It could be renegotiating with your lenders, selling assets you do not really need, downsizing, getting another job, etc.
3. Start taking small steps.
Little changes have a snowball affect.
Saving just $1 per week will equal $52 at the end of the year. Not much, true, but more than you would have if you did not save at all.
$10 per week (a meal for one at a fast food restaurant) is $500. That could be emergency savings or a debt-free Christmas.
There is a psychological change that occurs when you start working towards your goals. Even if it seems to small to count, it actually does count. So, label your accounts, jars, piggy banks, or envelopes and start filling them up.
