How do you get started in the stock market?
It is as simple as 1, 2, 3!
1. Set up an online brokerage account.
You can choose from one that offers free trades, one that charges a flat fee per trade, one that has a monthly fee, or one that does not. Choose the one that works best for what you want to do.
2. Choose the stock or fund you want to purchase.
There are a number of terms investors use and they can seem overwhelming, but basically you either buy or you sell. You can also use puts and calls to try to beat the market a little (for example, if you do not want to buy/sell for more/less than a certain amount and have up to 60 days to make the trade).
There are so many options available, but you will probably want to start with a company you really like, that aligns with your values, and that people would miss if it disappeared tomorrow.
3. Decide your strategy.
Are you going to buy and hold or try to beat the market by buying low and selling high?
Just remember, nothing in the stock market is completely safe. With great risk comes the potential for great reward, but never invest what you cannot afford to lose.
