How To Re-Frame a Frustrated Thought

“That’s what I said!!!”

How many times have you said something, only to have someone else repeat it and somehow get the “credit” for what you said?

Frustrating, right?

This happened to me today. A friend was having a plumbing issue. I told her how to troubleshoot the issue, which would either fix it or let her know she had to go to the store and pick up a $2 part that she could fix herself.

A man responded to my post, said exactly the same thing as me, and my friend responded to him thanking him for all of his help!

I responded by adding “Yes, thanks, [man’s name]! This conversation reminds me of an observation by a cashier when I worked at [large diy store].” I do not expect a response.

The observation by the cashier was that, for a particular demographic, it did not matter what I said as the plumbing expert on duty. If any man, even one professing to have absolutely no knowledge on the subject, repeated my exact words, the demographic in question would think he was a genius. Even if the man gave me complete credit. The cashier called it “the power of the penis”.

Please note this not meant to bash men. It was simply a way for us to laugh at something so obvious.
