Can you obtain a degree without debt?
Is a degree even worth it?
Is a degree necessary for the career you want to pursue?
Are you sure that this is what you want to do? Or are you choosing it because it is someone else’s vision for you?
Only you can answer these questions, but they are definitely worth asking BEFORE you sign up for classes!
And, make sure you take the time to research all of the grants and scholarships you might qualify for.
I waited until I was 27 to go to college. This was partly because I decided to wait until Morgan started kindergarten and partly because I did not know what I wanted to be after an injury in basic training made it almost impossible to safely be a large animal veterinarian (my focus since Santa brought our first horse in second grade).
But, an unexpected side effect was that, because I was older, I qualified for TAP and PELL, as well as a number of scholarships that allowed me to graduate with both my Bachelors and Masters degrees and “only” $20K in student loans.
Is a degree worth it?
Only you can decide.
Be sure you check out all the options and ask yourself smart questions before you do.
