How To- Find Money

Say you have something- an event, a holiday, a new job, whatever- coming up and you need some fast cash…

How do you come up with some fast cash so you do not have to use credit?

Fortunately, you have two options:
1. earn more money
2. spend less money

Even if these are only temporary options, both are doable.

To earn more money you could:
– work a part time job: $10/hour X 10 hours per week X 10 weeks = $700 after taxes (assuming you are in a 30% total tax bracket)
– sell items in your house you no longer need- an extra television, used sports equipment, collectibles, antiques, tools, appliances, etc.
– offer your skills or services on Craigslist, upwork, tutor(dot com), fivrr, cash jobs, flexjobs, etc.

To reduce expenses you could:
– brew your morning coffee instead of buying it: $5 per day X 5 days per week X 10 weeks = $250
– pack your lunch instead of eating out: $10 per day X 5 days per week X 10 weeks = $500
– take another look at ongoing expenses. Cutting out cable could easily put up to $200 per month in your pocket. Comparison shop cell phone plans, insurance, internet providers, grocery stores, etc. Are you really using your subscriptions? Unsubscribe from anything you are not really using. This includes automatic Amazon deliveries. Check your credit cards to make sure there are no unauthorized charges. Contesting a charge puts the cash back in your account (just be sure you truly did not make the purchase).

These are only a sampling of potential opportunities to get you started. Write down any ideas that come to mind, no matter how crazy they may seem at first. You may be surprised how one idea can lead to another.
